Highlander: Ascension
The Series
Highlander: Ascension was inspired by the parade of Star Wars fan films being made at the time. Unfortunately, there were few films being made about other properties. So, the idea was hatched to make a Highlander fan film, but to also make it more like a television series than a feature film. The hope was to tell a longer, more involved story that way with all the cliffhangers that only serialized drama can provide.
The series ended up with a six episode story-arc, though only two episodes were ever fully completed. Segments of two other episodes were filmed and edited, and are presented here.
Episode I: Dark Horizon
We are introduced to Donovan O’Brien, an immortal who was attempted to leave the Game behind. But you can never leave the Game, and other immortals soon find Donovan and threaten his new life.
Episode II: At Mercy
A shadowy figure is stalking Donovan and appears to be setting him up. Who is this dark figure, and what are their motivations? The fate of Donovan’s friends lies in him answering these questions.
Episode III: Hearts
Someone from Donovan’s past is stalking him, but who? He must search out old enemies and friends alike to discover who is behind the recent attack. But the shadowy figure has plans of his own.
Episode IV: Bonds That Tie
A war looms between Donovan and Gannon. Wars, however, always have their collateral losses. Donovan must face his toughest foe ever, before all he cares about is destroyed.
Episode V & Episode VI
Episode V: What We Leave Behind and Episode VI: Ascension were scripted but filming never began on either episode. The scripts are included in the Bonus Materials section below.
